Migratory Bird Day BioBlitz at Pipestone National Monument

Posted

PIPESTONE, Minn. – Calling all birders, citizen scientists, morning people, photography enthusiasts and anyone just looking for things to do outside. Pipestone National Monument needs your help collecting data this spring.

On Saturday, May 8, the Monument is hosting a Migratory Bird Day BioBlitz from (brace yourself) 6-8 a.m. Complimentary coffee and donuts for blitzers will get the blood going.

No birding experience is required.

Don’t know birds? Not a problem. All you have to do is photograph every bird you see in the Monument and upload it the iNaturalist page for this event. That’s it. The iNaturalist community and our own biologists can go in later and identify them.

All blitzers will receive a token of thanks before they leave for helping collect this much- needed information.

RSVP if you’re interested so that organizers know where to plan on sending people in the Monument to get the best data (and how much coffee to make): 507-825-5464 ext. 214.
