Monarchs reign with 3-1 win

SIOUX FALLS – Warner avenged one of its two regular-season losses with a 15-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-12 win over Northwestern to claim the Class B state title on Saturday at the PREMIER Center.

Laurie Rogers and Ashley Fischbach each had 17 kills and Sydney Leidholt added 13 as Peyton Fisher put up 46 set assists.

Rogers also had two solo blocks and seven block assists while Fischbach collected 28 digs as the Monarchs finished their season with a 36-2 mark.

Caitlyn Fischbach and Riley Grandpre tallied 11 kills apiece for the Wildcats, who ended up with a 37-3 record. Madalyn Groft posted a double-double of 29 set assists and 20 digs as Grandpre added six block assists.

Third Place

  •  Faith 3, Chester Area 1

The Lady Longhorns won the first set, 25-19, before the Flyers took Set 2, 26-24, but then Faith closed out the match with 25-19, 25-18 wins to capture third place.

Mikenzy Miller finished with 16 kills and a solo block while Aiyana Byrd chipped in with 15 kills and four block assists as the Lady Longhorns improved to 31-2.

Sydnie Schauer notched 44 set assists and 24 digs as Brooklyn Hanson picked up a team-high 33 digs.

Jadon Wages and Makenna Larson each had 20 kills as Larson tacked on 20 digs and Wages 19 while Hailey Ewoldt tallied 48 set assists, two solo blocks and a block assist for Chester Area, 26-7.

Hanna Reiff led the Flyer defense with a game-high 34 digs.

Fifth Place

  •  Burke 3, Faulkton Area 0

The Lady Cougars won by set scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-22 over the Trojans to take fifth place.

Taylee Indahl totaled 16 kills; Bobbi Jo Wischmann put up 28 set assists; and Lainee Schonebaum collected 17 digs as Burke improved to 31-8.

Peyton Melius’ 14 kills led Faulkton, 26-8, while Avery Deiter (12) and Grace Schlechter (10) combined for 22 assists.

Seventh Place

  •  Ethan 3, Kimball/White Lake 0

Cameryn Logan’s 15 kills led the Rustlers, 28-8, who won by set scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-23 as Jessica Bartscher finished with 38 set assists and Maddie Miiller notched 17 digs.

Kennedy Leiferman tallied 16 kills for the WiLdKats, who end their season with a 22-10 mark. Heather Munsen notched 24 set assists and Darby Deffenbaugh collected 27 digs.
