BROOKINGS – It’s getting hot in herre!

Nelly is returning to turn up the heat in Brookings at the Swiftel Center Oct. 25.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the Swiftel Center box office, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Ticket prices are $25 for general admission pre-sale, through Aug. 26 while supplies last; $30 for general admission starting Aug. 27; $35 for general admission the week of the show; and $40 for general admission the day of the show.

A pop-rapper with crossover appeal, Nelly seemed like a novelty when he first debuted in 2000 with “Country Grammar (Hot …),” yet he was no one-hit wonder, consistently returning to the pop charts with hits like “Hot in Herre,” “Grillz” and “Dilemma.”

His universality was partly rooted in his hometown – the Gateway City, officially known as St. Louis, Missouri – which set him apart from all of the prevailing rap styles of his time.

Nelly’s rapping style is country and urban at the same time, as well as his dialect, which combines a Southern drawl with Midwestern twang. Plus, Nelly never shies away from a pop-rap approach, embracing a singalong vocal style that makes his hooks catchier than most.

Nelly will be joined in Brookings by New Orleans rapper Juvenile, a Southern hip-hop veteran.

He has climbed the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with his 2004 single “Slow Motion.”
