New logo unveiled for Downtown Business District

BROOKINGS – The Downtown Brookings Business District, a committee of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce, unveiled its new logo in March 2020. The new logo is one of serval strategic initiatives the committee will embark on this year.

“The new logo and branding are a visual demonstration of the revitalization to our committee and the entire downtown,” said Downtown Brookings Director Ashley Biggar. “The logo embodies the culture, personality and physical structure of our downtown community. It’s an honor to work with everyone in downtown and feel this captures the spirit of our community.”

The logo was created over the past three months. Since downtowns are referred to as the heart of the community, the design consists of a building with historical features in the center cascading out with geometric forms representing additional structures. The vibrant, inviting, and thriving features of downtown can be found in the lime green and teal colors within the color palette, while the grays lend way to the historic and firm foundation within the community.

“I had a lot of fun helping rebrand the Downtown Brookings Business District by playing with shapes, colors, and typography in the logo. It is important that, while it is still a committee under the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce, it has its own identity that can be easily distinguished,” Marketing and Promotions Coordinator Molly Buum said. “Having an undergraduate degree in graphic design, I was thrilled to be able to use my skills to help with the rebrand.”
