Next Third Sunday Breakfast to benefit BHS Winter Guard

Posted

BROOKINGS – On Sunday, Jan. 20, the VFW Auxiliary Third Sunday Breakfast will be held as a fundraiser for the Brookings High School Winter Guard.

The VFW breakfast is an event sponsored for nonprofit organizations. The profits from the breakfast served go to the sponsored group. The Winter Guard members will be on hand to serve breakfast to the community. Winter Guard is the performance squad similar to Color Guard that performs with the Brookings High School Marching Band during the fall semester.

The community will be able to visit with the Winter Guard members as their meal is delivered to them. The breakfast will be served at the VFW Post Home at 520 Main Ave. The menu will include pancakes or biscuits and gravy as the main entree, and along with your choice of entrees you will get scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, juice and coffee.

This meal is $7. If you arrive with a hearty appetite and would like to have both entrees, that is $9. Children 3-7 eat for $4, and toddlers 2 and under eat for free.

The breakfast will be served from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Come support our local youth and enjoy a hearty breakfast.

Nonprofit organizations are reminded that it is not too early, and not too late, to send in an application to be chosen for the upcoming year.

The next group of nonprofit organizations will be chosen after July 1. To be considered for this fundraiser, send your organization’s purpose and goals. Send your letter of interest to VFW Auxiliary Third Sunday Breakfast Chairman Jan Olson, 1924 Ninth Ave. S., Unit 108, Brookings. A written request is necessary to be considered for this opportunity.
