SIOUX CITY — The No Illusions Jiu Jitsu team of Brookings took part in the 2023 Tap Cancer Out Brasilian Jiu Jitsu Open last weekend with six athletes earning gold medals, five athletes earning silver medals and three athletes earning bronze medals on Saturday afternoon.

Hugh Hitchcock won the gold medal for the male 4-to-6-year-old, 49 pounds and under white belt division. Evelyn Munoz won gold in the male 9-to-10-year-old white belt 60-69 pound division. Jasmin Alicea won gold in the female 9-to-10-year-old white belt division while Jordan Melhaf won gold in the male 18 and over, 186-195 pound division for white belt novices and Matt Girard won gold in the male age 18+ 171-185 pound division for white belts.

Jacob Randle also won gold in the male 18+, 186-195 pound division for white belts.

Kadin Thompson won the silver medal in the male 13-to-15-year-old 136-145 pound division for grey belts while Hugh Hitchcock won the silver medal in the male 4-to-6-year-old, 49 pounds and under division for white belts.

Yaretzi Munoz won the silver medal in the male 9-10 year-old white belt 70-to-79 pound division while Matt Girard won silver in the male 18+, 171-to-185-pound white belt division while Jacob Randle won silver in the male 18+, 186-to-195-pound white belt division

Yaretzi Munoz won the bronze medal in the male 9-to-10-year-old, 60-to-69 pound white belt division, Evelyne Munoz won the bronze medal in the male 9-to-10-year-old, 70-to-79-pound white belt division and Genesis Ramsey won bronze in the female 7-to-8-year-old, 60-to-69-pound grey belt division.
