Nominations sought for 2022 Mayor’s Generational Leadership Award

BROOKINGS – The City of Brookings is seeking nominations for the Mayor’s Generational Leadership Award. 

The Mayor’s Generation Leadership Award recognizes the importance of young leaders who make a community vibrant and dynamic. 

The award was created in 2014. Past recipients include Scott Meyer, Jennifer Johnson, Leah Brink, Amanda Quam, Thomas Fishback, Angela Boersma, Kyle Bender, Ashley Biggar and Brianna Doran.

This award is given to a community member 35 years old or younger who has affected the community in the following ways:

• Positively changes how we think about our community and city

• Helps Brookings attract and retain young professionals and families

• Motivates new generations to be active in their communities

• Contributes to the advancement and well-being of the community through service in areas such as:  education, sports, fund-raising, charitable-voluntary service, economic development, arts and the environment.

Nominations are due Oct. 14.

All nominations will be considered and reviewed by the mayor. The winner of the Mayor’s Generational Leadership Award will be recognized at a combined award event on Dec. 1 at the Swiftel Center.
