Norman “Nem” Matson, 96, of Huron and a former Arlington-Oldham resident died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Sunquest Nursing Home in Huron.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the Oldham Lutheran Church in Oldham. Burial is in the Oldham Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-7 pm on Friday in the church and one hour before services in the church on Saturday. The Johnson-Henry Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Norman was born April 14, 1922, to Peter and Hannah (Hansen) Matson in Kingsbury County He attended school in Oldham and graduated from Oldham High School in 1942.
He married Avis D. Lilly on Oct.15, 1960, in Sioux Falls. They farmed near Arlington and Oldham until 1975 when he worked at the Coast to Coast warehouse in Brookings until his retirement in 1985 when he moved into Oldham.
He moved to Huron in 2015 to be near his son and family.
He is survived by two sons, Mark in Virginia and Noel (Denise) Matson of Huron; five grandchildren two great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Bjorkman of Madison
He was preceded in death by his wife, Avis a sister, Ydun and four brothers, Enoch, Herman, Arild and Lonny.
