BROOKINGS – Kaitlyn Oleson-Hayen has been named South Dakota State University’s Civil Service Employee of the Month for July. Oleson-Hayen, who serves as a communications specialist supervisor at the University Police Department, will be honored at 3:30 p.m. July 26 at the department’s headquarters.

“During her time here, she has routinely gone above and beyond to help provide the safest and most secure campus possible,” University Chief of Police Tim Heaton said. “In recent years, Kaitlyn has weathered various limitations with regular hiring and training and lots of overtime. Through it all, she continues to get the job done to ensure that when someone makes an urgent call for help someone is there to answer.”

Oleson-Hayen graduated from SDSU in 2008 and has worked at UPD since September 2006.

“Throughout my career, Kaitlyn has consistently met established project deadlines and milestones,” said William Taylor, operations sergeant at UPD. “Despite the overwhelming amount of work to do, Kaitlyn consistently finds ways to help he co-workers. Her willingness to assist others and her commitment to SDSU is unequaled.”
