Olson: Bengs for Senate

Letter to the editor

Posted

Brian Bengs brings experience and ethics to the table from his service to our country for 26 years as a veteran in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. As a Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps member, Bengs worked to comply with the law and uphold high standards expected of military leaders.

Bengs will bring that background to the Senate to work across the aisle to retain and enhance Medicare and Social Security, strengthen the Affordable Care Act, and expect the rich to pay their fair share of taxes and other issues that support all humanity.

My background as a registered nurse supports Brian Bengs’ philosophy and experience.

Registered nurses learn and understand the importance of respecting all individuals for whom they provide care. We don’t ask if they are in the “have or have not” caste, their political affiliation, or other personal questions that are not relevant to their health issue. Our goal is to listen respectfully to their health concerns and implement the optimum care that the health team prescribes for them and others in similar situations.

I invite you to support Brian Bengs by voting in the general election on Nov. 8. Bengs will represent all of the people of South Dakota in discussions and decisions at the federal level.
