BROOKINGS – One house has been taken down (above) and the other one (below) will go soon to make room for a parking lot just south of the Brookings City & County Government Center.
The Brookings City Council and Brookings County Commission purchased the land in summer of 2017.
The houses and concrete slabs are being removed by V.J. Ahlers Excavating, and the land will be leveled yet this year, City Engineer Jackie Lanning said.
The parking lot will be constructed in 2019, she added.
