The accident was reported at 10:29 a.m. Monday and occurred in the 100 block of First Street in Volga, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, Volga Fire Department and Brookings Ambulance responded to the above location for a vehicle impacting a parked trailer,” Sebring said.

Harold VanHoepen, 81, of Volga, was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan.

“It was found Harold VanHoepen had lost control of his vehicle while driving and it impacted a parked semi-trailer, which was parked on private property,” Sebring said.

“This collision caused an estimated $50 damage to the trailer and $7,000 damage to the van. VanHoepen was transported to the Brookings hospital by the Brookings Ambulance for unknown injuries,” Sebring said.
