Optimist Club welcomes new members, serves at Harvest Table

BROOKINGS – The Optimist Club of Brookings has announced the addition of Wayne and Deb Wolforth as new members of the club. Wayne and Deb joined the club on Feb. 18. The Wolforths will bring to the club interest and expertise in community outreach. 

“We are looking forward to the contributions that Wayne and Deb can make in our club, and we’re proud to have them as  members,” Club President Paul Richter said. “But the most fortunate ones are the children who will benefit from their dedication, and that’s what optimism is all about.”

The Optimist Club of Brookings has been supporting the youth of Brookings area for over 40 years. Carrying the motto “Bringing Out the Best in Youth, in our Communities, and in Ourselves,” Optimists conduct positive service projects that reach more than 6 million young people each year.

Harvest Table

The Optimist Club of Brookings served 173 meals at the community Harvest Table on Feb. 17. A roast beef meal with all the trimmings was served by 15 Optimist members.
