ST. GEORGE, Utah – Junior Jared Otta shot a one-under par 71 to lead the South Dakota State men’s golf team Monday in the opening round of the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational.
The Jackrabbits are tied for seventh, shooting a 304 on the par-72, 6,900-yard Sunbrook Golf Course. Northern Colorado leads the 11-team field, firing a 282.
Otta is tied for eighth along with senior Alejandro Perazzo (71), who is playing as an individual.
Senior Jared Nicholls is tied for 14th, shooting a 72. Freshman Jonah Dohrer is tied for 50th (80), sophomore Jones Comerford is tied for 55th (81) and senior Jaxon Lynn is tied for 59th (82).
Playing as individuals, freshman Harry Duggan is tied for 41st (78) and classmate Sam Batta is tied for 61st (83).
