Our help in a time of need

Do you ever feel like you can’t do anything right? Or maybe you feel like you’ve failed your kids or your spouse. I want to tell you that we all have those moments, no matter who we are. Sometimes we grow from them, and sometimes we let them consume our life. Paul says in Romans 7:15, “I do not understand myself. I want to do what is right, but I do not do it. Instead, I do the very thing I hate.” (NLV). We’re all human and all make mistakes.

Jesus has provided a way for us to get help in the times of our weaknesses, though. Hebrews 4:14-16 says, “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

I recently read a pastor friend’s article, and he said it like this (I inserted my name). “I picture Jesus operating as my high priest and saying ‘Father, here comes Randyn again. He needs help. I died for Randyn. My blood was shed for Randyn. I paid the price for Randyn, so he could obtain mercy. Have mercy on Randyn and give him grace to help in this time of need.’” It doesn’t matter if you are a Christian or not, Jesus died for you and wants to help you in your time of need! We just need to ask him for his help.

If you would like to have a relationship with Jesus and you want to know for certain where you are going after this life, all you have to do is say, “Jesus, I need you, and I want your help. I believe that you died for my sins, and I want to follow you the rest of my life.” When you call out to him in prayer and believe it in your heart, you have the surety of eternal life with Jesus Christ. I continually pray for you as part of this community, and speak blessings on you in Jesus’ name.
