Patricia Louise Arch-Jacobs, 88, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at the Neighborhoods of Brookview in Brookings.
Eidsness Funeral Home, Brookings, is handling local arrangements, and a memorial service may be held at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre in the spring
A resident at Brookview since November 2016, she spent most of her life in Pierre. Patricia was born March 4, 1929, in Mitchell to Charles H. Arch and Anna Mae McCormick Arch. She married Robert C. Hickman of Bronte, Texas, and had two children: Daisy A. Hickman (Brookings) and Lisa C. Hickman (Memphis, Tennessee). Later, Patricia married Jerome C. Jacobs and had three children: Jeffrey J. Jacobs (Litchfield Park, Arizona), Julie P. Jacobs (Pierre), and Jacqueline J. Jacobs (Chandler, Arizona).
Patricia went to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri., and later worked for the Corps of Engineers, the Capital Journal, and the Department of Energy.
She was an avid reader, active in Democratic Women, and enjoyed writing editorials. Her brother, Myril John Arch, preceded her in death. The family requests that memorials for Patricia be sent to St. Joseph’s Catholic School After School Program (Pierre), and that floral gifts be sent to the residents of Mary House (also in Pierre) in Patricia’s memory.
