PD: Garages vandalized

BROOKINGS – Two garages were vandalized with red spray paint and authorities think both might be connected, according to Brookings Police.

One incident was reported about 7:17 p.m. Wednesday and occurred in the 500 block of Hunters Ridge Road, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

“There was profanity that was spray painted on a garage door in red spray paint,” she said.

The report didn’t include an estimate of damage or a time frame for when the vandalism occurred, she said.

Another incident was reported at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday and occurred in the 100 block of 14th Avenue South.

“The other one also involved red spray paint and profanity, followed by the number 12,” Gebers said.

“The reporting party said it happened sometime between 6:45 and 7 p.m.,” Gebers said. “That one they were able to just paint over with white paint, so there was no damage estimate.”

Since the same type of message was on both of the garage doors, “we believe that they are likely connected,” Gebers said.
