BROOKINGS – Brookings Police are looking for a male suspect who injured another man severely enough to seek emergency treatment, according to Assistant Chief Derrick Powers.

Officers were called to the Brookings Emergency Room at 1:57 a.m. Sunday, Powers said.

“The individual had been at a residence in the 300 block of Fourth Street when some individuals were being loud outside the residence. Someone inside yelled out to these individuals,” Powers said. “A short time later, someone from this group came up and pounded on their door.

“When he answered it, he was hit several times by a male subject in the face. The male then left the area,” Powers said.

The suspect is described as a white male, thin, approximately 6-1 tall, with blond hair and “also described as having deep ruts in his cheeks,” Powers said.

“It appeared that there was at least one female individual, possibly two other males with them. The male suspect was last seen leaving to the north and was last seen in the area of Fourth Street and Main Avenue,” Powers said.

The injuries were not life-threatening but did need medical treatment, he added.

“We’re looking for information on the identity of the suspect as it remains under investigation,” Powers said.
