BROOKINGS – A Brookings woman was arrested for allegedly choking a juvenile, according to Brookings Police.
Jessica Murphy-Morris, 32, of Brookings, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault domestic, which is a felony, Det. Adam Smith said.
The incident was reported about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9 and occurred in the 2200 block of 10th Street, Smith said.
“A female was choking a 13-year-old and pulling her hair. Looks like she had … the juvenile in a chokehold,” Smith said. “She said the juvenile had pulled her hair, starting the attack.”
The suspect is ex-step-mother to the victim, Smith said. “Looks like the child and her father had gone to visit (Murphy-Morris). … It looks like the juvenile and the dad are living out of state right now.”
The police reported didn’t indicate if the victim’s father was present during the incident, Smith said.
