Peterson, Arends win Two-Man in playoff

BROOKINGS – Cole Peterson and Tate Arends defeated fellow Sioux Falls golfers Brenden Bassing and Jacob Otta in a three-hole playoff to win the SDGA Two-Man Championship over the weekend at Brookings Country Club.

Peterson and Arends, the first-round co-leaders following a four-ball score of 64 on Saturday, closed with a Chapman tally of 71 Sunday for a 135 total.

Bassing and Otta shot 65-70.

Chris Long and Matthew Johnson closed strong with their second consecutive 68 for a 136 total, as they placed third.

Dylan From and Jeff From were fourth at 137 (70-67). Brandon Sigmund/Jeff Meyerink (68-70), Chris Mithelman/Jonathan Emerson (64-74) and Connor Preston/Thomas Hogg (66-72) tied for fifth with 138 totals.

Matt Krogman and Scott Holm led the local contingent. The BCC members tied for 17th with a 142 (72-70) tally.

Jared Baszler made a hole-in-one on No. 17 – slam dunk – on Saturday.

Two-Woman

RAPID CITY – Pierre’s Karissa Guthrie and Katie Bartlett shot 8-under-par 136 (69-67) over the weekend at Hart Ranch to run away with the SDGA Two-Woman Championship title.

Rapid City’s AJ Dyk and Paige Kadlec were second at even-par 144 (72-72).
