PFW’s Konchar earns Summit League honor

SIOUX FALLS – Purdue Fort Wayne senior John Konchar collected his third Summit League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor after leading the Mastodons to a pair of wins.

The guard from West Chicago, Ill., averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, six assists and three steals per game.

He posted a double-double of 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting on 10 rebounds while adding five assists in a 102-71 victory over South Dakota on Wednesday.

In PFW’s 82-81 win at Oral Roberts on Saturday, he had 26 points, five rebounds, seven assists and five steals. His final assist set up Matt Holba’s game-winning 3-pointer with 4 seconds remaining. Konchar went 8-for-8 on free throws.

He finished the week shooting 69.2 percent from the field and 90.1 percent from the foul line.

Purdue Fort Wayne (15-10) sits third in the Summit League standings with a 7-3 mark. South Dakota State (19-6, 9-1) is first and Omaha (13-9, 7-2) second.
