Pheasants top Cossacks in 5; Dolphins post win

VOLGA – Parker won the fifth set 15-8 to pull out a Big East Conference volleyball victory over Sioux Valley on Tuesday night at the Cossack Center.

Hannah Viet finished with 23 kills, nine blocks and two service aces for the Pheasants.

Grace Leberman added 12 kills and 22 digs.

Hannah Even dished out 40 set assists and netted a pair of aces. Chastin Mohr notched 20 digs and Karley Peters 18.

The Cossacks’ Nikole Ziegler finished with 14 kills and 12 digs.

Lynsey Stevens contributed 12 kills and 10 digs.

Bryn Tvedt had eight kills and eight digs.

Rachel Miller tallied 23 set assists and four kills. Miakken Vincent added 13 assists and six kills.

Sioux Valley (2-1, 1-1) concludes a four-match homestand taking on Clark/Willow Lake on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Parker (2-0, 1-0) plays host to McCook Central/Montrose on Tuesday.

• Deubrook Area 3, Lake Preston 1

LAKE PRESTON – The Dolphins won the Dakota Valley Conference match 25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-13.

Cortney Bauman finished with seven kills, six service aces and 20 digs.

Shaylee DeBeer totaled eight kills, a block and 14 set assists.

Sarah Urevig had seven kills and 15 set assists. Tori Berndt recorded six aces. Ashley Vandermeer came up with 12 digs, while Shelby Andrews and Madison Shaw both had a block.

For the Divers, Lindsay Hillestad had eight kills, four blocks and nine digs. Lexie Larsen contributed six kills, three blocks and eight set assists. Lexi Curry tallied five kills.

Rylie Brown came up with six blocks, four aces and eight digs.

Meriah Flegel notched 30 digs and Olivia Christensen had eight set assists.

Both teams return to action as Deubrook (2-0, 2-0) heads to De Smet and Lake Preston (1-2, 0-2) plays host to Castlewood.

• Arlington 3, Colman-Egan 0

ARLINGTON – The host Cardinals topped the Hawks 25-11, 25-18, 25-23 in a DVC match.

Angela Fuhr paced Arlington with 19 kills, two aces, a block and 15 digs.

Jayna Haufschild had 10 kills, a block and 21 digs.

Lindsey Rowbotham contributed nine kills and three aces.

Marissa Baker guided the offense with 35 set assists and Jeryn Christensen paced the defense with 25 digs. Baker also had two aces.

Colman-Egan’s Olivia Baumberger had seven kills and Savannah Moore added six to go with 10 digs.

Shelby Hiller totaled 15 digs, an ace and a block. Jordan Wittrock notched 19 set assists.

Arlington (3-3, 1-1) travels to Dell Rapids St. Mary and Colman-Egan (3-3, 0-1) plays host to Estelline on Thursday.

Elkton-Lake Benton Triangular

ELKTON – The host Lady Elks went 2-0, Castlewood 1-1 and Flandreau 0-2 in the Elkton-Lake Benton Volleyball Triangular on Tuesday.

The Fliers (3-4, 0-1 Lake Central Conference) play host to Hamlin and the Warriors (1-1, 1-0 LCC) head to Lake Preston on Thursday. ELB (2-0) welcomes Colman-Egan on Tuesday.

• Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Castlewood 0

Hannah Krog racked up 15 kills and Samantha Schindler added 11 to go with four aces to lead the Lady Elks to a 25-12, 25-6, 25-16 win.

Callie Otkin registered 31 set assists. Karlie Christensen had 15 digs. Abygail Landsman contributed four aces and 12 digs. Baylee Jandahl had three kills and three aces.

Castlewood’s Morgan Anderson totaled two kills, while Abbey Strait and Julie Fischer both came up with a pair of aces.

• Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Flandreau 1

ELB posted a 25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory.

Schindler and Krog both had 12 kills, Aubrey Wirth added nine, Taylor Bales eight and Jandahl seven.

Otkin finished with 40 set assists. Landsman paced a balanced defense with nine digs, Jesse Busselman had eight and Christensen chipped in with seven. Krog added two blocks (one solo).

The Fliers’ Makenzey Burggraff had six kills, three aces and 1 1/2 blocks (one solo). Mara Lunday added five aces and a block.

Jaycie Pulscher dished out 11 set assists and Anna Gassman had seven digs. Marianna Pavlis contributed two kills and 3 1/2 blocks (one solo).

• Castlewood 3, Flandreau 0

The Warriors won the LCC match 25-21, 25-15, 25-15.

Regan Benike had five kills and three aces. Sierra Schofield had five aces and Kellyn Jackson added four.

For Flandreau, Brooke Iott totaled four kills. Burggraff netted three aces. Pulscher had 12 set assists and Gassman came up with eight digs.
