Phyllis I. DeBoer, 84, of Estelline, died Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hamlin Reformed Church in rural Castlewood. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Estelline.

Phyllis Ilene Bevers was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Codington County, the daughter of Willis and Elizabeth (Daily) Bevers. She grew up in the Grover area and graduated from Watertown High School in 1951. She went to work as a bookkeeper for a bank in Watertown.

She married Wilbert ‘Bud’ DeBoer on Sept. 2, 1955, in Watertown.

The couple moved to a farm, where Phyllis helped with all the daily chores, as well as raised their children, Rodney, Joel, Curtis and Paula. The couple moved to Estelline in 1979, where Phyllis would provide daycare for many Estelline families for numerous years, with the help of Bud. Phyllis and Bud moved to Park Place Assisted Living in August of 2012.

Camping was one of Phyllis and Bud’s passions. They also like traveling to neighboring towns to listen to live music and in her later years, piecing together puzzles. She was a member of Hamlin Reformed Church, where she was involved with the Ladies Circle. Her favorite part of life was her family; she loved to see them and was always so excited when they could all be together.

She is survived by her husband, Bud DeBoer of Estelline; four children, Rodney DeBoer, of Bruce, Joel (Jane) DeBoer of Brookings, Curtis DeBoer of Brookings and Paula (Patrick) Morgan of Story, Wyo.; six grandchildren; several great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; five brothers, Donald (Phyllis) Bevers, Robert (Rita) Bevers, Eugene (Dee) Bevers, Maynard (Kathy) Bevers and Thomas (Carol) Bevers and one sister, Evelyn Jones.
