Sunday, Feb. 21

2:17 p.m. Brookings Police and Brookings Ambulance responded to the 500 block of Copper Mountain Circle. One individual was found deceased. A report was filed.

Monday, Feb. 22

1:28 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Orchard Drive. An investigation was performed, and one male was arrested on suspicion of DUI. A report was generated.

3:27 p.m. Law enforcement investigated a hit-and-run accident. The driver of the vehicle was later found and arrested.

7:35 p.m. Brookings Police took a report in regard to fraud. A report was generated.

Tuesday, Feb. 23

1:56 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 14 near 474th Avenue. A passenger of the vehicle was arrested on a Brookings County warrant. A report was generated.

11:45 a.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of Sixth Avenue South for drug paraphernalia which was located. Items was taken and logged into evidence.

Wednesday, Feb. 24

8:25 a.m. Officer Schneider was made aware of a student who had made suicidal comments to a staff member. A report was completed.

9:04 a.m. A citizen of Brookings turned in a found firearm at the PD. The pistol was found to have been stolen out of Sioux Falls.

1:30 p.m. Brookings Police investigated a hit-and-run crash report in the 800 block of 22nd Avenue South.

4:22 p.m. Brookings Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle, non-injury crash at the intersection of Yorktown Drive and Medary Avenue South. A state crash report was filed.

Thursday, Feb. 25

12:34 a.m. Brookings Police stopped a vehicle for traffic violations. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

2:18 p.m. Officers responded to the 1700 of Teton Pass for a minor accident. A report was generated.

3:25 p.m. Brookings Police responded to a non-injury crash report in the 100 block of Sunrise Ridge Road. A state report was filed.

Friday, Feb. 26

2:54 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Lefevre Drive. The driver was arrested for outstanding warrants out of Minnehaha County. The driver also accrued additional charges out of Brookings County for distribution charges as well as more drug charges. A report was generated.

12 p.m. Brookings Police responded to the 1300 block of Fourth Street in reference to a juvenile incident.

2:18 p.m. The Brookings Police Department received a call regarding an ongoing civil matter.

6:33 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Sixth Street. The driver was found to be impaired by alcohol and subsequently arrested for DUI. A report was generated.

8:20 p.m. Open Container; DUI-first offense; driving on wrong side of road

Saturday, Feb. 27

12:26 a.m. The Brookings Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Eighth Street. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

10:21 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Fifth Street for property damage. A report was filed.

2:43 p.m. Non-injury accident

Sunday, Feb. 28

1:44 a.m. Brookings Police responded to the 9 Bar for a disorderly female. A report was filed.

9:42 a.m. Officers responded to a crash at 22nd Avenue and Yorkshire Drive. Both vehicles were towed, and a driver was cited for no insurance and no driver’s license.

12:22 p.m. Law enforcement took a report of a two-vehicle accident without injury.

12:41 p.m. Sgt. Sonnenburg was dispatched to a report of a theft from the 2200 block of Sixth Street. A female suspect was identified and will be charged with theft.

Monday, March 1

9:57 a.m. Law enforcement conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, police service dog Gina was deployed. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

12:09 p.m. Officers met with an individual at the Police Department wishing to report online harassment. A report was filed.

4:17 p.m. Law enforcement took a report of harassment.

4:38 p.m. Sgt. Sonnenburg responded to a two-vehicle, minor accident in the 600 block of 25th Avenue. A city accident report was completed.
