7:30 a.m. Brookings Police stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic and window tint violation. During the stop, police service dog Gina was deployed around the vehicle and indicated to the odor of illegal drugs. The driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and marijuana.

8:39 a.m. Officers spoke with a Brookings resident regarding fraudulent bank account activity. A report was filed.

8:49 a.m. Officers took a report of a crash at Fifth Street and Eighth Avenue.

12:54 p.m. Officers responded to the intersection of Fifth Street and Eighth Avenue in reference to a two-vehicle, non-injury crash. One driver was cited for failure to yield. A report was filed.

1:37 p.m. Officer McCaskill took a phone call report of possible ATM/credit card fraud. The individual reported a loss of $300. A case report was completed.

1:42 p.m. Officers took a report of fraud.

7:05 p.m. Officer Weinrich took a report of the theft of a bicycle from the 600 block of Heritage Drive. A report was generated.

9:12 p.m. A woman came to the Police Department to report some suspicious activity.

Saturday, June 8

1:54 p.m. Officers received a call from an individual about a bond violation. A report was filed and charges are pending.

6:20 p.m. Suicide attempt

8:17 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Sixth Street. Two individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Sunday, June 9

3:08 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the McDonald’s parking lot. One male was arrested for DUI. A report was filed.

9:36 a.m. Officer Engstrom responded to the 500 block of Sunrise Ridge Road for a non-injury, two-vehicle crash. A report was filed.

2:23 p.m. Officer Engstrom responded to a report of a non-injury, two-vehicle crash on Teressa Avenue. A report was filed.

4:39 p.m. Officers took a report of harassment on social media. A report was filed, and the investigation is ongoing.

5:57 p.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of 22nd Avenue to pick up a piece of evidence. The evidence was secured and brought to the Brookings Police Department.

6:10 p.m. Law enforcement was called to 827 Fifth St. S. in Brookings for a theft report. After arriving, the suspect was found and property returned.

9:46 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Heritage Drive. The driver was arrested for DUI.

10:33 p.m. Law enforcement was called to 1021 Western Ave. for an assault. After arriving, one male victim was struck in the face multiple times. One male suspect was arrested for assault.
