2 a.m. The Brookings Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Eighth Street for a stop sign violation. During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle ran from the police but was shortly apprehended a half-block away. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and obstruction.

2:29 a.m. Brookings Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

9:15 a.m. Brookings Police made a warrant arrest in the 700 block of Brooklawn Drive.

9:32 a.m. Officers took a report of criminal entry of a motor vehicle in the Perkins parking lot where a wallet was stolen.

10:08 a.m. Officers received a call from a parent whose juvenile child had allegedly run away. Further investigation led to a report being filed and forwarded to Court Services and the State’s Attorney’s Office.

11:15 a.m. Officers responded to the intersection of Medary Avenue and Third Street in report of a two-vehicle, non-injury accident.

1:40 p.m. Officers responded to the 800 block of Prairie View Drive for a welfare check. A 74-year-old female was found deceased of apparent natural causes.

4:24 p.m. Brookings Police investigated a non-injury crash report in the 1200 block of Sixth Street.

5:05 p.m. Officers took a report of found counterfeit money in the 500 block of Elm Avenue. A report was generated, and the investigation is ongoing.

9:22 p.m. The Brookings Police Department was dispatched to the Brookings Health System ER to pick up an anonymous sexual assault kit. A report has been generated.

10:10 p.m. Officer Page took a report of a family dispute at 120 Sixth Ave. S. No. 7.

Friday, Sept. 10

9:16 a.m. The Brookings Police Department took a report of a single-vehicle accident involving property at the intersection of Medary Avenue South and Fifth Street South. A report was filed.

9:59 a.m. The Brookings PD conducted a controlled purchase of a controlled substance. The case remains under investigation.

5:10 p.m. The Brookings Police Department took a report of theft from the 800 block of 22nd Avenue South. The incident is being investigated, and a report was filed.

5:30 p.m. The Brookings Police Department investigated a theft in the 100 block of 12th Avenue South.
