Tuesday, Oct. 1

4:10 a.m. Law enforcement was called to Days Inn for a report of an assault. After investigating the incident, it was determined one male victim was assaulted by another male. The victim didn’t want to press charges.

8:28 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Sixth Street in regard to a vehicle that crossed eastbound lanes of traffic and crashed into the Jones Optometric Clinic business sign. Two suspects fled the scene and were later located in the surrounding area. One was later released and the other was arrested.

10:39 a.m. Passing no-account check – over $1,000; grand theft – over $1,000

5:20 p.m. Officers took a report of a theft that occurred at the high school. A report was filed.

5:29 p.m. Meaning of steady red light or stop signal

Wednesday, Oct. 2

3:16 a.m. Law enforcement conducted a traffic stop. While on the stop, law enforcement completed a DUI Investigation. A male driver was arrested for DUI.

10:44 a.m. Officer Schneider took a report of possible sexual assault. An investigation was made, and a report was generated.

11:56 a.m. Officer Engstrom took a report of a two-vehicle, non-injury motor vehicle crash in the 700 block of Sixth Street. A report was filed.

6:07 p.m. Officers responded to the 200 block of Main Avenue for a shoplifting. An investigation is under way.

7:43 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Sixth Street. An investigation was performed, and one male was arrested for DUI. A report was filed.

Thursday, Oct. 3

12:25 a.m. Intentional damage to property, $400 or less

12:45 a.m. Officers responded to the 700 block of 11th Avenue for lost property. An investigation is ongoing.

11:53 a.m. Officer Engstrom took a report of vandalism in the 700 block of Fifth Street South. A report was filed.

1:50 p.m. Theft by deception

3:40 p.m. Brookings Police assisted probation. A report was filed.

6:26 p.m. Nonviolent family dispute

Friday, Oct. 4

1:39 a.m. Officers responded to 1626 Third St. for a report of vandalism.

3:05 a.m. Officers found a deer alive and injured on the side of the road on the west diagonal. The deer was put out of its suffering.

10:27 a.m. Brookings Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. One passenger was arrested on drug-related charges.

6:02 p.m. Officer Page took a two-vehicle accident report at the intersection of Eighth Street South and Medary Avenue South.

Saturday, Oct. 5

12:18 a.m. During a sobriety checkpoint, a male was arrested for drug-related charges. A report was filed.

12:26 a.m. Open container in public; underage purchase or possession of alcoholic beverages

1:44 a.m. Lane driving required – changing lanes – violation as misdemeanor; DUI-first offense

1:45 a.m. Officers responded to 1400 block of Fourth Street for a male attempting to enter a residence. The male was arrested.

10:22 a.m. Officers stopped a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed that almost struck two pedestrians. The driver was arrested for reckless driving and underage consumption.

11:21 a.m. Brookings Police were dispatched to a hit-and-run accident on Camelot Drive.

Sunday, Oct. 6

1:51 a.m. Intentional damage to property, $400 - $1,000; disorderly conduct

3:41 a.m. Law enforcement stopped a male driver. During the stop, law enforcement conducted a DUI investigation. Law enforcement arrested the male driver for driving under the influence of drugs.

7:09 a.m. Officer Kreutner took a vandalism report that occurred in the 700 block of Western Avenue. A report was generated.

9:21 a.m. Brookings Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

10:46 a.m. Brookings Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

3:01 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Half Moon Road for a vandalism report. A report was filed.

8:02 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Fifth Street for a report of an individual passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Vehicle was located and the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

10:24 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Eighth Street South. One female was arrested for driving revoked. A report was filed.

Monday, Oct. 7

12:16 a.m. Improper lighting of license plate; possession or use of drug paraphernalia

2:17 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Eighth Street. An informational report was produced.

8:57 a.m. Officer Engstrom took a report of possible fraud in the 1600 block of Sixth Street. The incident was documented.

9:15 a.m. Officer Franklin took a report of intentional damage in the 400 block Third Avenue.

10:55 a.m. Officer Franklin responded to a two vehicle non-injury accident in the 600 block of 22nd Avenue.

1:48 p.m. The Brookings Police Department and Brookings Ambulance responded to the 1000 block of Sixth Street for a motor vehicle injury crash which struck a building. The subject was transported to the Brookings Hospital. A medical condition is suspected. An investigation was conducted, and a report was filed.

9:58 p.m. Parole hold/violation

10:26 p.m. Officers responded to the 1800 block of 12th Street South for a domestic. An investigation was conducted, and a male was arrested.
