Thursday, Nov. 8
1:55 a.m. Officers responded to the 1000 block of Western Avenue for a report of a suicidal male who was cutting himself with knives. The male was taken into custody and transported to the Brookings E.R. for a mental health evaluation.
3:34 a.m. Officer Popp stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Ninth Avenue for an out license plate light. The driver was later arrested for DUI-drug and no vehicle insurance.
6:40 a.m. Officer Hart responded to the 1700 block of 23rd Street South for a report of a minor, two-vehicle collision with air bag deployment. No injuries were reported. A state accident report was filed.
8:15 a.m. Officer Warkenthien took a report of a vehicle that had hit a pedestrian on a bike at the intersection of 12th Street South and 17th Avenue South. An investigation was made, and a report has been filed.
11:01 a.m. School Resource Officer Schneider received a traffic complaint of a vehicle going around a school bus while the lights were flashing and stop sign was out. Charges are pending.
11:52 a.m. School Resource Officer Schneider responded to a two-vehicle, non-injury accident in the high school parking lot. A city accident report was filed.
5:10 p.m. Officers spoke with a Brookings resident regarding the theft of money from her vehicle earlier in the day. An investigation is ongoing.
Friday, Nov. 9
12 a.m. City and university officers responded to the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 11th Street due to a report of a hit-and-run vehicle crash. The driver was later located and issued a citation.
2:16 a.m. Officer Popp stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of 17th Avenue for an obstructed rear window. The driver was arrested for DUI.
2:46 a.m. Officer Weinrich assisted in locating a person who had left Teen Challenge. The male was turned over to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
4:33 p.m. A female came to the police department to file a report of fraud. A report was filed.
