BROOKINGS – A person was observed near a home and possibly looking in the windows, according to the Brookings Police.

The incident was reported at 1:07 p.m. Thursday and an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Main Avenue South, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

“An individual who resides in that area had observed an individual outside of their residence in the night prior and it appeared as though that individual was attempting to look in their window,” Gebers said.

“There were footwear impressions in the snow that the officer observed … near one of the windows,” she added.

The person was described as a male wearing what appeared to be a black peacoat that had a collar; it looked like he was wearing a hoodie under the peacoat, Gebers said.

She asked people in the area to look at their security or door cam video and contact the BPD if anything was recorded that might help in this case. The BPD’s number is 692-2113.
