As June 7 comes closer, I encourage you to vote for Roger DeGroot for District 7 House of Representatives. I have known Roger for over 15 years, and as his former colleague, I am proud to support his candidacy.

I realize many in our community may not have had the opportunity to get to know Roger on a personal level. 

Being fortunate to work as his colleague for a number of years, I can tell you Roger is exactly the type of representative our community needs. He is fair, thoughtful and forward-thinking. He listens without judgment or bias and takes measured steps before acting. I saw, firsthand, the dedication and commitment Roger had for the tasks in front of him. I know he will bring this same thoughtful and deliberative approach to his work in the Legislature.

In making critical decisions as superintendent of schools, he was always a conscientious steward of our taxpayer dollars. During his tenure, the district consistently balanced their budget, while ensuring a high quality education for our children. As a school board member, Roger was again looking out for the families and community members in our district, asking the difficult questions to ensure our children received the best education possible. 

He has tirelessly worked to advocate for improvement in our systems while forwarding a conservative approacht o spending, all while managing the fluctuations of state aid. As our legislator, Roger will keep this same focus to ensure the state is responsible with your tax dollars, while working to meet the needs of South Dakota so we can continue to grow and flourish.
