BROOKINGS – The Brookings Public Arts Commission, in partnership with the City of Brookings, seeks an artist to design, fabricate and install 2D artwork in a public area of the shared use Brookings City & County Government Center.

The selected artist will be asked to create permanent artwork that honors the history, cultures and current experience of Brookings County residents. This call is open to all artists living or working in South Dakota or a neighboring state. (Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota).

The City of Brookings encourages diversity in its collection. Artists whose work is well represented in the city’s collection are eligible to apply, but the artist selection panel will consider artistic diversity as one factor in the selection process. Students are not eligible to apply.

The selected artist will receive a commission of $10,000 (that shall include all South Dakota state sales/use tax), to design, fabricate and install the artwork. The $10,000 budget also shall include any associated travel costs.

Proposals will be accepted now through Jan. 15, 2020, and must be submitted through the Café website:  www.callforentry.org. Before submitting a proposal, artists must set up a free Café profile if they have not already done so. To find more details about the call, sort by state and choose “South Dakota” on the Café website or visit https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=7202.
