BROOKINGS – A groundbreaking celebration is planned for 4 p.m. Friday for the $50 million expansion of the Performing Arts Center, 1601 University Blvd., at South Dakota State University.
The event will be held in front of the facility’s main entry. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved indoors to the Larson Memorial Concert Hall.
The 30-minute program is designed to celebrate the excellence in music, theater and dance at SDSU that will be further enriched by the expanded facility. The project is the result of a partnership that brought significant funding from private donors, the City of Brookings, students and the university.
To date, $48.5 million of the $50 million goal has been secured.
A reception will be held in Roberts Reception Hall following the groundbreaking ceremony. Guests are invited to park in the parking lot east of the Performing Arts Center.
