Pumping gas for a good cause

BROOKINGS – It looked a little different this year, compared to years past, but the ninth annual Gas Out Cancer event still took place.

Rather than doing it for one day, for a couple hours, organizers did a two-week event, starting Aug. 20 through Sept. 2, where Pump N Pak donated .01 cent for every $1 worth of gas purchased during that time at both PNP locations.

People could also go inside and register to win one of two $50 Visa gift cards from Dakotaland FCU and Paul Kruse of State Farm.

The Brookings Home Team then matched up to $1,000 and also gave away a Cinema 8 movie basket.

So after it was all said and done, the fundraisers were able to donate a total of $2,000 to Relay For Life, American Cancer Society, for their continue research on fighting this disease.

The other sponsors included Town and Country Shopper and Brookings Radio.
