Ranger boys post fourth shutout in a row

ABERDEEN – The Rangers improved to 5-0 in South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association boys’ play with their fourth consecutive shutout, beating Aberdeen 8-0 on Friday night at the Odde Center.

Kade Brecher stopped 12 shots to post the shutout in goal.

Jamison Honkomp and Logan Bortnem both totaled two goals and an assist.

Max Kjelden and Ike Johnson both contributed a goal and an assist.

Trenton Pederson and Breck Hirrschoff also scored.

Ashton Witte dished out three assists and Talon Richter added one helper.

Brookings led 2-0 after a period and took control in the second, grabbing a 7-0 advantage heading to the final stanza.

The Rangers host Huron on Friday at 8 p.m. before playing at league-leading Sioux Falls 2 on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. and at Mitchell on Sunday at 4 p.m.
