Rangers beat All Stars, fall to Cougars

BROOKINGS – The Rangers beat Huron 4-3 on Saturday and fell 6-2 to Aberdeen on Sunday during South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association girls’ action at Larson Ice Center.

Third-place Brookings (10-4-0-1) concludes the regular season playing host to Watertown on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Four different Rangers lit the lamp.

Montana Myer got it going with a first-period tally. Addison Ramlo and Alexis Schelske assisted.

Ramlo scored on an assist from Myer early in the second.

Ramlo scored again later in the period, with Savannah Barber picking up a helper.

Barber’s goal made it 4-1 midway through the second. Ramlo and Myer logged assists.

Marina Gerstner made 14 saves to earn the win between the pipes.

The Rangers racked up 38 shots.

Danielle Podoll netted a hat trick, Kaitlyn Holland added a pair of goals and Kensington Eckhoff also scored for the Cougars (14-1).

Myer’s goal 5:45 into the second cut the deficit to 2-1. Barber found the back of the net on a power play 5 minutes later to pull Brookings within 4-2.

Goalie Jadyn Runge stopped 31 shots.

Aberdeen’s Shelby Snow made 13 saves.
