HURON – Jadyn Peterson netted a hat trick and added an assist as the Rangers beat the All Stars 5-1 in a South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association girls’ matchup Friday night at Bergman Arena.
Peterson scored twice in the opening period – Jayda Geraets assisted on the second goal – to stake Brookings to a 2-0 lead.
Huron’s Ashley Busch cut the deficit in half with 5:49 to play in the second. Deja Phillips was credited with the assist.
Brookings took control later in the period as Addison Ramlo scored on an assist from Jenna Schulte and Janaya Kuehl lit the lamp on Peterson’s helper to make it 4-1 heading to the third.
Peterson completed the hat trick on a power play with 2:55 remaining in the game. Montana Myer assisted.
Marina Gerstner made eight saves to earn the victory between the pipes. Alissa Ferguson had 37 stops for Huron (0-2).
Brookings (1-1) is host to Rushmore today at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Blue Rink at Larson Ice Center.
