Redhawks 7th at Madison Invitational

MADISON – Estelline/Hendricks finished seventh at the Linda Collignon Gymnastics Invitational held Saturday in Madison.

The host Bulldogs varsity won the invitational with a score of 135.625, followed by Hot Springs at 131.625, and Vermillion at 128.200.

Estelline/Hendricks scored 114.550.

On the uneven bars, Hot Springs’ Kiera Allen won the event with an 8.675, followed by Madison’s Karlie Nelson at 8.250 and Hot Springs’ Peyton Stewart at 8.000.

The Redhawks’ top-finisher was Brynn Peterson in 28th with a 6.200, followed by Sarena Schwartz in 29th with a 6.175.

Chamberlain’s Amelia Jones won the beam with a score of 8.775, followed by a trio of Tanagers.

Schwartz was the top Redhawk finisher in 33rd with a 7.150, while Sierra Kreger scored 6.875 for 38th.

Estelline/Hendricks’ Sadie Johnson took home first-place honors in the floor exercise with a score of 9.625, edging out Jones from Chamberlain and Raena Rost from Madison. The Redhawks’ Brynn Peterson finished fifth with a 9.100, while Schwartz ended up in tenth with a score of 9.000.

On the vault, Wagner/Bon Homme’s Alexys Rueb scored a 9.100 to win the event, followed by Jaylen Nachtigall from Hot Springs in second.

Peterson finished seventh as the top Redhawks’ performer with an 8.750, with Kreger’s 8.400 good enough for a tie for 13th.

Jones from Chamberlain won the all-around with a 34.550, nipping Nelson from Madison who finished at 34.475 and Reub from Wagner/Bon Homme in third with a 33.825.

Schwartz and Peterson finished 19th and 20th, respectively, scoring 30.575 and 30.400, while Kreger finished 26th with a 28.650.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt makes the trip up the interstate on Friday for a dual with the Redhawks, starting at 6:30 p.m. in Hendricks.
