Region 3B: Redhawks, Warriors post wins

DE SMET – Estelline/Hendricks and Castlewood won Region 3B semifinal matches Thursday to qualify for the Class B SoDak 16.

The Redhawks (27-9) dropped Wolsey-Wessington (20-8), posting a 25-20, 17-25, 25-16, 25-19 victory.

The Warriors (24-4) beat Hitchcock-Tulare (19-14) by the set scores of 25-10, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-22.

EH is the No. 14 seed in the SoDak 16 and takes on No. 3 Ethan (26-6) on Tuesday. The Warriors face Faulkton Area (21-5) in the 8-9 matchup.

Sophie Johnson racked up 25 kills, 31 digs, five service aces and a block in the victory.

Kaylee Johnson had 11 kills and 33 digs. Kylie Beare contributed nine kills and eight blocks.

Sadie Johnson dished out 42 set assists and netted five aces. Kate Wegner notched 24 digs. Cora Hofer had four blocks.

For the Lady Warbirds, Carly Marani finished with 21 kills and 16 digs.

 Castlewood 3, Hitchcock-Tulare 1

The Warriors’ Cala Hunter had 19 kills and 23 digs. Alayna Benike totaled nine kills, 23 digs, a pair of blocks and two aces. Presley Knecht had eight kills.

Layce Kooima guided the offense with 26 set assists, paced the defense with 24 digs and also tallied four aces.

For the Lady Patriots, Elizabeth Salmen had 13 kills and 19 digs. Ashley Masat added nine kills, while Kenidee Enander had 21 digs and a trio of aces.
