Renner Royals blank Bandits

RENNER – Quentin Evers pitched six shutout innings and the Royals racked up 15 hits in a 12-0 victory over the Bandits in Legion baseball action Tuesday night at Renner Ballpark.

Evers struck out 11 and walked three while giving up two hits. Sam Breit retired all three batters he faced to finish things off.

Peyton Garbers doubled in all three of his at-bats and drove in a pair of runs. Nick Hoekstra was 3-for-3 with a trio of RBIs. Both players scored three times.

Justin Aldrich added a pair of two-baggers and three RBIs. Logan Ymker had two hits, while Trey Rogers and CJ Stukel both doubled.

Post 307 put up three runs in both the first and second innings. The home team added one run in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Post 74 got singles from Jacob Schoon and Ryan McMacken.

Jameson Meyer took the loss after giving up seven runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Renner is host to The Dakota Classic this weekend. There are six four-team pools competing in the Sioux Falls area.

Brookings (0-4) heads to Harmodon, taking on Sioux Falls West at 10:30 a.m. and Papio South, Neb., at 1 p.m. on Friday and then facing Viroqua, Wis., at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Bracket play is Sunday, including the semifinals at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. followed by the championship matchup at 3 p.m. at Renner Ballpark.
