Richard James Earley, 64, of Brookings, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society – Deuel County Nursing Home in Clear Lake.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 until 4 p.m. in the Rude’s Funeral Home.
He was born on July 26, 1953, in California to the late Emmett and Elsie Earley. Richard graduated from Brookings High School in 1973 where he played football, basketball, and slow pitch softball with his friends. After graduation, he joined the National Guard. Richard worked at Don’s Body Shop, Rainbow Play Systems, and Brookings County. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Richard also loved playing with his dogs.
He was survived by his four sons, Austin, Erin, Eric, and Michael all of Brookings; brothers, Emmett Earley of Brookings and Butch Iverson of Colorado; sisters, Donna Anundson and Tammy Nugent both of Brookings. Richard is also survived by his grandchildren, cousins, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
