REDFIELD – Estelline/Hendricks’ Riley Benning placed third in the boys’ 5K race at the Pheasants Cross Country Invite on Thursday.
The junior clocked a time of 17 minutes, 30.21 seconds.
Milbank’s Mitch Batchelor was medalist in 16:25.82 and Timber Lake’s Beau DuBray (17:19.49) placed second.
Justin Buschenfeld (19:14.91) was 31st and Dallis Trego (19:41.26) finished 39th for the Redhawks.
In the girls’ 5K, Jesade Siverson (22:05.63) placed 25th, Sadie Johnson (22:09.94) 27th and Kaylee Johnson (22:31.78) 33rd.
SALEM – The Flandreau boys and Chamberlain girls took the team titles at the McCook Central/Montrose Invitational on Tuesday.
The Fliers totaled 30 team points to top second-place Winner Area (38).
The Warriors’ Kade Watson was medalist in the 5K with a 16:44.37 clocking. Chamberlain’s Dominic Santiago placed second in 16:54.56 and Freeman Academy/Marion’s Titus Roesler (16:59.06) wound up third.
David Allen paced Flandreau, taking ninth in 17:30.74.
Austin Kulm (18:05.08) and Brandon Van Dyke (18:09.49) were 14th and 15th, respectively, to round out the team score.
Also for the Fliers, Liam Streitz (18:19.65) placed 21st, Lars Dailey (18:53.03) took 35th, Samuel Gassman (19:21.26) was 44th and James Drietz (20:32.31) finished 55th.
Deubrook Area was 12th in the team standings with 108 points.
Mason Ramlo (18:52.16) was 34th, Dartanian Lehman (19:32.81) 45th and Payton Moe (20:08.98) 54th.
Chamberlain (14) and Winner Area (21) finished 1-2 in the team standings and the Fliers were third with 45 points.
Deubrook Area was sixth at 60 and Colman-Egan had 74 points in ninth.
The Cubs’ Ally Hough placed first in the 5K in 18:28.49. Ethan/Parkston’s Lindsey Roth (19:11.09) was runner-up.
The Dolphins’ Ellie Olsen placed third with a time of 19:31.84.
Flandreau’s Libby Hursey crossed in 20:33.99 to place ninth.
Hannah Parsley took 11th with a 20:41.61 clocking. Reese Olinger (22:37.24) finished 42nd to complete the team tally.
Rounding out Deubrook’s team score, Carley Landmark (21:49.92) finished 33rd and Andrea Vandermeer (22:48.24) was 43rd.
Reese Luze led the way for Colman-Egan, taking 16th in 20:56.59. Abby Rhode placed 21st with a time of 21:09.87. Jordan Wittrock (24:47.83) ended up 60th to complete the team score.
