

Rock strike damages church in Elkton

ELKTON — A case of exhibition driving that damaged a parking lot and a church in Elkton is being investigated by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at a church in the 700 block of Cornell Avenue, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
An unknown party was using the church’s parking lot for exhibition driving, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote. While doing this, it is assumed a rock was thrown at the church. This rock hit a large door, breaking it and causing approximately $4,000 in damage. After causing damage to the parking lot and building, the vehicle left the area in an unknown direction.
