Ronald Sherman, 81, formerly of White, South Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at the South Dakota Human Services Center in Yankton.  A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in White.

Ronald Earl Sherman was born on August 6, 1938. 1944 he and his sister, Leona, were adopted by Glenn and Myrtle Sherman. Ronald attend country school until the 8th grade when he left school to work on the farm. In 1978 Ronald started working at Daktronics until his retirement in 2001. After his car accident in 2015 he moved into a long term care facility.

Ronald could be found at the local café’s for coffee time – usually one town in the morning and another in the afternoon. He was always interested in hearing the latest gossip and spending time with his friends. He told us stories of TV shows like the characters were his friends and whenever he got to the funny part he was laughing so hard we couldn’t understand him, we loved seeing that happy funny side of him.

Ronald loved the outdoors and was very proud of his possessions, especially his vehicles and his home. Ronald was fond of rat terriers and always seemed to have a ‘Buddy’ and a ‘Lucky’ close by. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his chickens. He hated to sit still for too long.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Myrtle Sherman and his sister, Leona Sherman. He leaves behind 3 brothers, Loren Nelson, David Crandal, and Glenn Eugene “Butch” Sherman and 2 sisters-in-law, Delores Nelson and Shirley Sherman; 1 nephew, Jeff Sherman; 3 nieces, Jessica (Brett) Spencer, Niki (Jamie) Stubbe, Ann Wininger as well as several great nieces and nephews.
