Ross L. Reisig, 83, of Colman, died at his home on Monday, May 14, 2018, under hospice care. 

Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman. Burial is at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will begin at noon and continue until the start of the service. 

Ross was born on July 13, 1934, at Chester to John Henry and Natalia (Heinze) Reisig. He was raised on the farm and attended Rudd Country School and Chester High School. Ross served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1955 and was stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge he moved to California and worked at Douglas Aircraft. He also learned his trade in floor covering while in California. Ross married Diana Burg in 1966 and they were married for 19 years. He moved back to South Dakota and worked at Sears Roebuck in Huron as their flooring installer. He moved to Colman and started his own business which he enjoyed for over 50 years. He enjoyed being the mayor of Colman and served as the commander of the American Legion. He was known as the “candy man,” having a cupboard full of sweet treats and giving everyone a hard time.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry (DeWayne) Erickson of Mitchell, Lori (Kelly) Hansen of Colman and Tammy (Jeremy) Thuringer of Temple, Texas; his son, Brody Reisig of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, June (Earl) Root of Kennewick, Washington, Natalia Lamb of Lone Jack, Missouri, Ruby and Molly Reisig of Colman; one brother, Henry (Emma) Reisig of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law, Mona Reisig of Dell Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. 

Ross was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma; a brother, Robert and a brother-in-law, Chuck.
