Ross Lee, 86, of Mitchell died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at Avera McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls. 

Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell with the Rev. Jerry Stravia officiating. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery with military rites.

Ross Edwin Lee was born Nov, 11, 1930, at Mitchell to Howard and Selma (Kruse) Lee. He attended Mitchell schools and graduated from Mitchell High School. He worked for Porter Motor Co. until being drafted into the Marine Corps in 1952, and was stationed in Japan, after being honorably discharged in 1954, he returned to Porter Motor Co. until they closed.On March 13 1955, he married Caroline King at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. He owned and operated Lee Auto Service for several years before beginning his career at the Mitchell Post Office in 1965, and he retired in 1990 as night supervisor.

Ross enjoyed fishing, hunting and the annual rally at Sturgis. Trips to China and Alaska were among his travels.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Caroline; three sons Allen (Gail) Lee; grandson Justin; granddaughter Courtney, Brookings; Bruce Lee, Gillette, WY; Clark (Darla) Lee; granddaughters Hanna and Abby; grandson Michael, Humboldt; sister Beverly (Ed) Durst; Sioux Falls; brother-in-law’s  Irvin(Jeanie) King, Leo King and Leonard (Maggie) King; sister-in-law Charlotte Nicholson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Ida May Lee; parents-in-law Everett and Lena King; a brother Robert Lee; sister-in-law’s Nellie King and Jesse King; brother-in-law Jerry Nicholson.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
