BROOKINGS – Brookings High School seniors Whitney Twitero and David Park were honored as the Brookings Rotary Club’s March 2019 Students of the Month.
Twitero is the daughter of Catherine and Clayton Twitero. Some of her in-school activities include cross country, track, oral interpretation, Poetry Out Loud, HOSA, Spanish Club, Writing Club, honor roll, art and National Honor Society. Outside of school, Whitney volunteers for numerous local events and organizations. Her honors include Honor Roll and various athletic and artistic awards. She plans to attend Augustana University and major in biochemistry, with a long-term goal of becoming a nephrologist or dermatologist.
Park is the son of Kunsoon and Juyeon Park. Some of the activities in which he has been involved are varsity soccer, marching band, choir, orchestra, theater, HOSA, Science Olympiad, Quiz Bowl, student council and National Honor Society. His honors include National Honor Society president, boys' varsity soccer captain and marching band section leader. He intends to further his education at a four-year university out of state, majoring in biology on a pre-med track.
Each month during the school year, the Brookings Rotary Club recognizes two students who excel in exhibiting its motto “Service Above Self” and fulfill the ideals of the four-way test: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
