Rotary Students of the Month for December, January honored

BROOKINGS – Brookings High School seniors Parker Beers, Jadyn Perry and Zachary Kofford were honored as the Brookings Rotary Club’s December 2018/January 2019 Students of the Month.  

Beers is the son of Jerry and Cara Beers of Brookings. Some of his in-school activities include football, basketball, baseball and track and field. Outside of school, Beers has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Feeding Brookings and Brookings Youth Football. He is a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to attend South Dakota State University and major in athletic training. 

Perry is the daughter of Bryan and Diane Perry of Brookings. Some of her in-school activities include marching band, concert choir, winter drumline, vocal jazz, orchestra pit for fall musical, and symphonic band. Her honors and offices include National Honor Society, marching band and winter drumline front ensemble section leader, Outstanding Member and Outstanding Rookie in winter drumline, Lettering Award in band, honor roll, music scholar in band and choir. After graduation Perry plans to attend college to study cellular and molecular biology.  

Kofford is the son of Mary and Joshua Kofford of Volga. Some of the activities in which he has been involved are band, musical and quiz bowl. His honors and offices include brass captain, college prep scholar, National Merit Scholar semifinalist and National College Match Finalist. Upon graduation, Kofford plans to attend Northwestern University to pursue an engineering degree.  

Each month during the school year, the Brookings Rotary Club recognizes two students who excel in exhibiting their motto “Service Above Self” and fulfill the ideals of the four-way test: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
