Ruth Dyrdahl, 82 of Brookings, and a former Oldham area resident, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at her son’s home in Brookings.  

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Arlington with the Rev. Aaron Olson officiating. Burial is in the Oldham Lutheran Cemetery at Oldham. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington.

Ruth was born Nov. 30, 1934, to Earl and Elma (Cleveland) Nelson in Lake Preston.  She attended numerous schools in the area and graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton in 1955.  She then attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis.  

Ruth married B. Arnold Dyrdahl on May 8, 1965, at the North Preston Lutheran Church at rural Lake Preston. She was a farm wife and mother of two, Paul and Connie.  They moved to Madison in 2009, where Arnold died in 2015.  In September of 2016 she moved to Brookings to live with her son Paul and his wife until her death.  

She enjoyed reading, misc. crafts, doing puzzles and spending time with family and friends.  

She is survived by her son Paul (Marleen) Dyrdahl of Brookings; daughter, Connie (Lowell) Koppman of Sioux Falls; a grandson; her brother, Elden (Faith) Nelson of Prinsburg, Minn.; sister-in-law, Joan Dyrdahl of Rapid City and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold.
