BROOKINGS – Great Plains Lutheran’s Sam Hansen carded a 1-over-par 73 to grab the individual lead and the Panthers are on top on the team leaderboard following the first round of the Class B State Boys’ Golf Tournament on Monday at the Club.
Hansen went out in 1-under-par 35 with birdies at the fifth and ninth and a bogey on the seventh.
He triple-bogeyed the par-3 13th but later birdied the 15th.
Hansen leads by four strokes.
Aberdeen Christian’s Jett Becker and Wessington Springs’ Blake Larson are tied for second at 77.
In a tie for fourth with 78s are Plette-Geddes’ Brody Boltjes, Howard’s Lane Hodges and Faulkton’s Bennett Cassens.
Ipswich’s Luke Peterson and Chester Area’s Chase McDonald also broke 80 and are tied for seventh.
GPL posted a team score of 253, with several teams lurking.
Platte-Geddes (256) is second and Chester (257) third.
Deubrook Area and Ipswich are tied for fourth with 259 totals.
The Dolphins’ Nash Colberg sits in 14th after a round of 83.
Brodey Crooks (87) is tied for 29th and Gavin Landmark (89) is tied for 38th to complete the opening-round team tally.
Also for Deubrook, Jackson Selleck (98) is tied for 82nd.
Oldham-Ramona/Rutland’s Carter Wermers shot 84, as he’s in a tie for 15th.
Estelline/Hendricks’ Davin Carlson (100) is tied for 86th.
Colman-Egan’s Taylor Kreich (101) is tied for 91st.
