Sandra “Sandy” Sue Wilkins (nèe Lewis) of Brookings, 67, died peacefully at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls on Friday, June 30, 2017.
Funeral services are at 10: 30 a.m. Thursday at GracePoint Wesleyan Church. Visitation will be held at Eidsness Funeral Home on Wednesday July 5, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. Flowers may be sent to Eidsness Funeral Home, 1617 Orchard Drive, Brookings, 57006.
Sandy was born and grew up in Weedville, Penn., where she met the love of her life, Reverend Stephen Wilkins; they were married on Aug. 22, 1970, until the Lord called her husband home in 2006. Sandy was a caring woman with a big heart and a passionate love of the Lord.
She was renowned for her beautiful smile and had a cheerful, engaging laugh that drew others to her. When she wasn’t doting on her grandkids, she was busy trying out new recipes for her children or serving at her church.
Much of her time was spent tending to her garden or feeding the birds who would venture onto her patio.
She is survived by her four siblings, Geraldine (Dave) Frey, Gary (Lois) Lewis, Carol (Mike) Simpson, and Don (Pam) Lewis, as well as her three beloved children, Stephen (Tricia) Wilkins, Shane Wilkins, and Staci Wilkins, and her six grandchildren, the sources of her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Stephen Wilkins (Redfield) and her parents, Ralph and Ruth Lewis (Weedville, Penn).
